Description:We created one large family room by removing a dividing wall between two other rooms. The wall we removed was load bearing so an engineered beam had to be installed to carry the load above. The stained window trim and existing bookshelves were painted to give the room a bright look. Crown molding was installed to accent the new large area. We constructed and installed a custom built-in cabinet in the room to give the homeowner storage. A pocket door was installed where an existing door was located to close off the room to the rest of the house as needed. Laminate was installed on the entire floor to finish the look.
